A small stool designed in the 1950s by Shoji Yoshida, a Mingei movement activist from Tottori Prefecture.
The main body features a small drawer and shelf, allowing you to store small items needed before going out, such as dust cloths or shoe care supplies.
The carved seat, designed to comfortably fit the sitter, and the leg design are also incredibly charming.

Shoji Yoshida was a designer, Mingei movement activist, entrepreneur, and even a medical doctor.
He studied under Sōetsu Yanagi, and while practicing medicine, he designed and produced ceramics, woodwork, dyeing and weaving, metalwork, and Japanese paper, establishing organizations for production, distribution, sales, and consumption.
He successively founded the Tottori Mingei Kyōdan as a group of artisans and the Takumi Kōgeiten as a sales organization.
These later came to be known as the New Mingei Movement.
This stool is simple yet highly designed.
Its shallow seat indentation and the gentle curve on the back of the thighs are examples of its simple and beautiful design, prioritizing practicality and ease of use.
The way the color has faded is just right. It's honest craftsmanship that can be enjoyed just by looking at it.
